Born in Zimbabwe, Tarisai began singing at the age of three, and made the decision to commit to a career in music when she was only eight years old. After moving to Australia, she was determined to perfect her skills as a performer, studying Music Theatre at the Australian Institute of Music. She also completed a degree majoring in psychology.
In 2007, Tarisai became a household name through Network Ten’s Australian Idol, where she made the Top 5. She released her single “Head Over Heels” in 2010 under Tommirock Records, and received two AAMA awards for Single of the Year and Best Female Artist. Tarisai’s album “Redemption” was released in 2017, and her recently released single has earned her 4 Maranatha award nominations in the USA.
Tarisai’s musical theatre dream began when she was cast in Disney’s The Lion King (UnderstudyRafiki/Shenzi). She also toured Australia in Madiba the Musical (Prestige Presents) about the life of Nelson Mandela, in the role of Sandy. Most recently, she appeared as Violet Beauregard in the Australian tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Crossroads Live).
Tarisai has written and performed a drama play Out of Africa, based on her personal migration story from Zimbabwe to Australia.
